Dear Friends,
Friday the 4th, the Idaho Legislature official adjourned for the session with a Sine Die (without a day). As we conclude the 2025 legislative session, I want to thank you for entrusting me with the privilege of serving as your voice in the Idaho State Senate. This year has been filled with meaningful progress as we worked together to ensure Idaho stays the kind of place we all want it to be—strong, free, and prosperous.
This session, I had the honor of chairing the Agriculture Committee and serving on both the Commerce and Human Resources and Education Committees. These committees are at the heart of many issues that affect our daily lives, from school policies to business regulations and the protection of our agricultural resources. I also continued my leadership role with the Idaho Freedom Caucus alongside Representative Heather Scott.
One of my core beliefs is fiscal responsibility. It’s crucial that we keep our budget balanced and spend wisely. For example, I voted no on Senate Bill 1175 (additional spending), which involved unnecessary spending, and yes on Senate Bill 1107 (keep the lights on), which addressed essential needs.
I also sponsored and co-sponsored several bills this session. Here are some of the highlights (all bills can be found here):
Legislation I Sponsored:
Prohibition of Political & Ideological Flags in Schools (H0041): Ensures that Idaho’s public schools remain neutral spaces by prohibiting the display of political, religious, or ideological flags.
Cursive Writing Proficiency in Schools (S1044): This bill reinforces the importance of cursive writing by requiring Idaho students to master it by the fifth grade.
Grocery Tax Credit Increase (H0231): This bill raises the grocery tax credit to $155 per person, providing much-needed financial relief for Idaho families.
Fetal Development Instruction in Schools (S1046): Requires students to receive instruction on fetal development using high-definition ultrasound images.
Ivermectin (S1211): Allows for human use Ivermectin to be sold over the counter. This bill is still waiting for a signature from the governor.
Weather Modification Taxing District Repeal Bill (S1167): Removing a weather modification taxing district that had not been used in over 40 years.
Bills I Co-Sponsored:
Freedom of Inquiry in Higher Education (S1048): This bill aimed to ensure true academic freedom by prohibiting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) offices in public universities. While it did not pass, I will keep advocating for it.
The Medical Ethics Defense Act (H59): protects the conscience rights of healthcare professionals and healthcare entities from being forced to participate in non-emergency procedures that would violate
their sincerely held religious, moral, or ethical beliefs.
NARCOTIC, SUBSTANCES (HJR4): Proposes an amendment to the state constitution to provide that only the Legislature shall have power and authority to legalize the growing, producing, manufacturing, transporting, selling, delivering, dispensing, administering, prescribing, distributing, possessing, or using of marijuana, narcotics, or other psychoactive substances.
Additional Legislative Work:
I was deeply involved in tax relief efforts, supporting measures to ease the financial burden on Idahoans.
I also worked on various bills addressing the safety and rights of our communities, including efforts to keep men out of women’s spaces and remove unnecessary sugary foods from SNAP (tax payer)benefits.
We made great strides this session and I believe this has been the best session yet for conservatives. I look forward to continuing the fight for policies that uphold our shared values—individual liberty, economic opportunity, and a vibrant Idaho.
